So, I’ve worked my own recovery for essentially co-dependency. Intellectually, I know why my friend would stop speaking to me in active addiction. Still, can you guys share your experiences of sort of ”choosing” unhealthy relationships over healthy ones?

I was wondering if you guys could help me understand. My best friend relapsed. Hard. He’s completely paranoid and out of it, and is accusing me of going through his emails. • Some of us just sabotage ourselves when things start going too good unfortunately. Good luck with your recovery, hope your friend gets a handle on it.

      • Amen. Can be hard but its what i had to do .. Friend apx 1 month clean after being in very deep for apx 9 months use. • Getting out of the way as super hard, if not impossible. I question myself if I’m an answer or refuge to this woman I’m deeply in love with. You wanna help but you know you need to be absent to let them want to ‘own’ their addiction and you can’t do both. When watching them hurt themselves breaks your heart is what we hate and we just have to let…[Read more]

I completely agree and totally get what you mean.

    • @mishell thank you for replying. I appreciate it and I think I needed that reminder today. 🙂
